About Getaway Vacations
Originating in Alberta, Getaway Vacations is a modern motor coach tour company with over 35 years of operating within Canada and the United States. Our trips are designed with your needs in mind, offering many stops to stretch your legs along the way.
We cater to travelers looking for a comfortable, worry and hassle free experience. We are proud to serve the Okotoks region with with local pick-ups (depending on trip) and standard departures from Calgary and Medicine Hat.

What amenities are in your motor coaches?
ANSWER
Our motor coaches are modern and luxurious with spacious leather seating and extra leg-room similar to first-class seats on an aircraft. You can expect Wi-Fi as well as a DVD player and 110 outlets. Most importantly, our coaches are climate controlled for your utmost comfort, and have fully equipped washrooms.
Will you provide me with information on the sights along the way?
ANSWER
Yes. We have an experienced Tour Director on board who will fill you in on all the important sights along the way. They will also assist with information and arrangements for other excursions not part of your tour. We are happy to help with anything that will make your trip more enjoyable. Just ask us.
How long have your drivers been in the business?
ANSWER
Our drivers are well-seasoned and have been taking care of travelers for over 30 years. The routes for our trips are very familiar routes to our crew.
Can I make requests for a specific hotel floor?
ANSWER
Definitely. We will make sure that the hotel is aware of any specific needs that you have and they will do their best to accommodate.
Are you able to accommodate my food allergies?
ANSWER
Absolutely! Please make us aware of any food allergies that you have. We can make sure that restaurants are aware where meals are included.
I have difficulty carrying my luggage, can you help with that?
ANSWER
Yes we can! Each guest is allowed one bag and when available, we take care of loading and unloading your luggage for you, and ensure it is delivered to your hotel room. Please note: This amenity may not be available at all hotel locations.
Can you give me a specific itinerary for the trip?
ANSWER
Each guest will be provided with an itinerary upon boarding
Will we be stopping for several nights in one city or do we pack and move everyday?
ANSWER
One of the reasons our guests love our trips is that every trip has multi-night stays so you can unpack and relax. Usually we stop at the major cities for at least 2 nights and up to 5 nights. We can give you information about your specific trip so that you will see how many nights you stay in each city.
Is every day totally planned for me?
ANSWER
We strike a balance between leisure time and planned tours so that you have time to enjoy what you prefer. If you would like to take in a sight that is not on the tour, we will try to arrange it for you. If possible, we will organize a group so that you can take advantage of a discount as well.
What is your cancellation policy?
ANSWER
We want you to be certain about considering Getaway Vacations for your travel plans. Book your spot on any of our upcoming trips with no deposit required, until we are able to guarantee the trip will be taking place. Once we reach our required number of passengers on a trip, we can guarantee it is a go! At that point, a deposit of $250 is required to reserve your spot. All payments are non-refundable.
We suggest all guests purchase Trip Cancellation insurance. If paying by credit card, this may be a benefit already offered through your credit card company. Since COVID-19 hit the travel industry so hard, hotel cancellation policies have changed drastically, which have affected our operations.

Do I need travel insurance in place prior to my trip?
ANSWER
We suggest you consider travel insurance in case something happens during or before your trip. Some providers are Blue Cross, AMA and RBC. There are many others you can contact to request a quote.
How do I pay?
ANSWER
We will gladly accept all forms of payment: Cash, Cheque, E-Transfer, Credit Card. A 3% Surcharge will be applied to all credit card transactions. GST will be added to all trips, when applicable.
